Improv, short for improvisation, is a type of performance art in which the character, plot, dialogue and scene are created on the spot. Once the participants have the information for the scene, they ‘play’ together to create an interesting skit.
Improv requires teamwork, patience, creativity, and the willingness to ‘go with the flow’. Some of the basic rules of improv are that 1) everyone’s a genius, there are no bad ideas, 2) always say ‘yes, and’ while on stage, don’t deny the ideas of others on stage with you, 3) play and enjoy yourself, and 4) let yourself fail, learning improv isn’t easy.
